Curcuma Caesia — black turmeric — is the rarer of the two roots, a rhizome with a deep blue-black core that grows slowly and in far smaller quantity. Where Kasthuri Manjal was kept for the glow before a wedding, Karimanjal was the root a household reached for when skin needed calming and clearing.
